As an elite Level 1 Children’s Surgery Center, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU provides the highest level of surgical care to children across our region – and beyond. We're excited to expand surgical services with the launch of a new Saturday surgery block in the Children’s Pavilion.
Saturday surgical blocks will be held the first Saturday of the month, beginning on February 1, 2025. Surgeries will start at 8 a.m. and services will end at 3 p.m.

Additional specialties will be added to the Saturday block as the program ramps up over time.
Expanding services into the weekend enables us to increase capacity during the week and provide added convenience for families. In some instances, children can recover at home over the weekend, preventing their parent(s) from needing to miss multiple days of work.
This new service is just one of the many ways our unstoppable surgery teams are nurturing the champion in every child.
