Ways To Help
Thank you for choosing to support Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU. Expand the section to learn more.
Individuals and businesses can support CHoR by making a donation, participating in one of our events or creating a fundraising project. Donating unrestricted funds to the hospital is the most impactful way you can help. General donations fund clinical programs, program development and enhancement, recruitment of the very best pediatric specialists, research and wherever the greatest need exists. No matter how you choose to help, all funds go directly to helping kids and families in our community.
Since 2010, Children's Hospital Foundation has paid and/or pledged over $220 million to Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU thanks to the support of thousands of members of our community. You can help us continue supporting care for children by making a gift today.

Honor and memorial gifts
Honor or memorialize your family, friends and loved ones by making a gift to support CHoR. An honor or memorial gift is a wonderful alternative to standard gift giving and is a perfect way to honor or remember the special people in your life. Not only will your gift express your love—it'll also help give the gift of expert health care to children in need.
Contributing stocks or mutual funds to Children's Hospital Foundation is a smart and simple way to help kids in our community. You can make a gift of appreciated securities—publicly traded stocks, bonds and mutual fund shares—to CHF while avoiding capital gains tax and/or securing a stream of income. It's easy and it makes a difference.

Throughout the year, businesses in Central Virginia often make gifts to support CHoR as part of a company-wide or department-wide fundraising effort. There are many ways your business can fundraise for kids in our community.
United Way
Each year, employees around Central Virginia remember Children's Hospital Foundation during their company's United Way campaign. The codes for the Foundation are 422 (Local Government and Schools), 90557 (Central Virginia Combined Federal Campaign) and 03622 (Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign). All other campaigns should write in “Children's Hospital Foundation, Box 980693, Richmond, VA 23298.”
Other fun ideas
Consider holding a simple collection or organizing a competition to see which department can raise the most money. Some businesses fundraise for the Foundation by allowing employees to wear jeans on a particular day of the year in exchange for a $5 donation. Others donate a percentage of sales revenue over a specific period of time. Work with your colleagues to come up with an idea and discover that giving back can be fun, rewarding and, in the case of “Jeans Day,” comfortable too!
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. If you volunteer with us, your employer may also provide us with a gift in recognition of your service.
Search for your employer
To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, please enter your employer's name below. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift to Children's Hospital Foundation may be doubled or possibly tripled.
Since its inception, Children's Hospital Foundation has benefited from charitable gifts of bequests, trusts and life insurance policies. In fact, Sallie May Dooley, one of our original benefactors, made a bequest of $500,000 in the 1920's which provided for the construction of the original Crippled Children's Hospital on Brook Road.
Over the years, estate gifts have allowed us to grow our endowment so that we can continue to provide for the needs of the many children we serve. Many programs at CHoR have been funded with dollars generated from our endowment, and it is because of the generosity of our estate benefactors that we are able to continue that practice.
By remembering Children's Hospital Foundation in your will, trust or other long-term plans, you will help support and advocate for pediatric initiatives at CHoR. Explore the many planned giving options available to you.
Giving through wills and living trusts
Making a charitable gift through your will can be a convenient way to leave a lasting legacy. After first providing for loved ones, you may decide to make a charitable gift of a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or all of what remains after family and/or friends have been remembered.
Giving through a living trust is another idea to consider. Many people make use of trusts created during life to provide for the management and future distribution of assets and then, at the termination of the trust, direct a portion of the remaining assets to be used for charitable purposes.
Giving through life insurance
The need for life insurance can change as life progresses. You might have a life insurance policy that was purchased to provide for your children, but they are now self-sufficient. You can name Children's Hospital Foundation to receive all or a portion of the policy proceeds that are no longer needed for their original purpose.

In order to ensure that your charity of choice receives your gift, it is important to use the organization's full name in your documents.
