Where does the money I raise go and how can gaming help children's hospitals?
The money that you raise through Extra Life will go directly to your chosen Children’s Miracle Network Hospital (Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU) as ‘unrestricted funds.' This means that CHoR decides where and how to spend the money to ensure the dollars you raise make the biggest impact in the lives of the unstoppable kids we treat.
Diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) shortly after birth, Jonah began his journey with specialists from our team. Despite his diagnosis, Jonah loves staying active—especially through sports like basketball, adaptive rock climbing and swimming, which helps him focus and build confidence. He also loves playing video games, whether at home or as part of his therapies.
“Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU has every specialist we need including therapists, and the resources are more than I could ask for,” said his mom, Rebekah. “Despite everything Jonah’s been through in his short life, he’s the strongest person I know,” she added, “he is the most fearless and inspirational person you will ever meet.”
