How aquatic therapy works

Water offers both buoyancy and resistance, creating a great environment for kids to improve muscle tone, endurance and flexibility; build strength; and enhance coordination. Aquatic therapy is not intended to teach a child how to swim, but may provide foundational skills needed for swimming.

We have a few guidelines that your child must meet to safely use our therapy pool:

  • Ability to follow simple directions
  • Have a medical prescription
  • No open medical ports
  • No uncontrollable seizures
  • Post-surgical therapy cleared by physician
  • Toilet trained

Aquatic therapy consists of weekly sessions for seven weeks. Appointments are offered Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Because of limited pool availability, we can't offer make-up sessions for missed appointments.
