Favorite things about residency at CHoR:
What I appreciate the most so far about residency at CHoR is the population we serve and how our attendings equip us not only with the clinical knowledge and skills to care for our patients, but also emphasize how social determinants can affect the wellness of our communities just as much as their medical diagnoses. It is an immense privilege to care for the children of Richmond and our wide catchment area with my amazing co-residents. Our residency class is tight-knit, supportive during tough shifts and difficult life events, and knows how to enjoy life together outside of the hospital and clinic to better our mental health and wellness.
Favorite things to do and eat in Richmond / Hobbies:
Richmond has a surprisingly good food/drink scene with a wide variety of options, my wife and I frequent Havana 59 for their great food and Salsa dancing! I appreciate our access to the James river right downtown and Appomattox river within driving distance for kayaking and fishing. One of the greatest things about living in Richmond is our proximity to the ocean, Northern Virginia and Washington DC, and Shenandoah National Park all within a 1.5 hour radius. My wife and I spend as much time as we can backpacking and camping with our German Shepherd during our weekends off.
Fun fact about me:
I completed a music minor in vocal performance during undergrad, and was active in several operas, oratorios, musicals and solo performances during and since that time. I enjoy having multiple concert halls here in Richmond!
