Dr. Mauro completed his bachelor's and master's programs in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Parma in Italy. He then obtained his doctorate degree in Molecular Medicine while working at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Mauro's research primarily focuses on understanding how cancer and anticancer therapies contribute to pediatric and adult cardiomyopathies. He is interested in exploring how inflammatory signaling can trigger cardiac damage. Dr. Mauro's goal is to help develop new pharmacological strategies capable of preventing
cardiac comorbidities and the onset of heart failure in cancer survivors.
Dr. Mauro is fluent in Italian.
