Dr. Erin Dunbar is a board certified Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician and Assistant Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. She completed her residency training in Pediatrics at Westchester Medical Center in New York. She then finished her Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. In addition, she has completed a Masters degree in Immunology from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
She has a specific interest in process improvement in the Emergency Department. Through this interest she has worked on initiatives in the areas of bronchiolitis and intussusception. Specifically this has involved reducing the admission rate of patients who can be safely observed in the Emergency Department and discharged home with the goal of reducing inpatient admissions, decreasing costs for families, and improving patient and parent satisfaction.
She also has interest in disaster and mass gathering medicine as well as medical student, resident, and fellowship teaching.
