Dr. Schefft is an assistant professor of pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Richmond. His clinical and research interests center on medical overuse and how we can "safely do less" in the care of children. Dr. Schefft is involved in projects to identify medical overuse and implement improvement work to reduce unnecessary care both locally and nationally.
He is a co-chair of the CHoR Quality Council, Inpatient Quality Committee, and physician liaison for the construction of our new inpatient children's tower. Nationally, he is co-chair of the Academic Pediatric Association's Quality Improvement Special Interest Group, a member of the Lown Institute's RightCare Alliance Pediatric Council, founding member of the High Value Practice Academic Alliance Pediatric Committee, site coach for the American Academy of Pediatrics Value in Inpatient Pediatrics projects, a 2020 graduate of the Academic Pediatric Association Quality, Safety, and Improvement Science Scholars Program, and a 2017 American Society of Hematology Choosing Wisely Champion.
