Research areas
Dr. El-Amin's research focuses on understanding the thrombophilia seen in sickle cell disease and the resultant increase in thrombosis in these patients. Given the increased mortality associated with these thrombotic events it is important to discover ways to reduce the incidence of these events. Additional areas of interest include chronic pain in sickle cell disease and development of new therapeutics.
