Every child and family who comes through our doors should feel a sense of support and belonging. We acknowledge many of our LGBTQIA+ patients face unique health care needs – and the Cameron K. Gallagher Mental Health Resource Center is here to help.
Our therapeutic LGBTQIA+ peer support group is designed for adolescents ages 13 to 17. The group is facilitated by a licensed clinical social worker who has experience providing LGBTQIA+ mental health services. There are many benefits to peer support groups, including providing a safe space for social support, discussing struggles, building positive coping strategies and more.
Therapeutic support groups are similar in style to one-on-one therapy – but with a group of peers. We will bill your insurance company or work with you on self-payment for group therapy. We provide care regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
Groups are held every 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 4 p.m.at Virginia Treatment Center for Children.
Registration is required. Call 804-828-3137 to register.
