Support and care for all

Whatever your faith or culture, our chaplains provide spiritual and emotional support for your child and family. Whether it’s praying with you before a big surgery, helping you process a new diagnosis or celebrating an exciting milestone – our team helps families navigate the health care journey and listens when you need an ear. Our chaplains are trained to connect with children of all ages and their families at the human level, caring for people of all religious and spiritual backgrounds. We understand that illnesses, injuries and hospital stays can prompt profound questions, as children – and parents – want to understand the meaning behind these experiences and what might come next. We can listen and help everyone explore those topics and discover tools to help them manage these experiences.

Our chaplains are available 24/7, 365 days a year. Just ask a member of your health care team to page the chaplain.

How we help

We understand that values and beliefs help sustain people during difficult times, and our pastoral care team respects our families’ preferences. We’re here to help guide you in calling upon your inner spiritual resources for:

  • Counseling
  • Crisis intervention
  • Spiritual guidance
  • Sympathetic companionship
  • Bereavement counseling (if needed)

Because we are committed to caring for your whole child, our chaplains regularly participate in health care team meetings, rounds and family conferences. We get to know your child and what makes them special, with a focus on helping them discover and strengthen the things that give them hope and courage.

We also lead an annual celebration of life to honor children and help families celebrate the lives they have lost.
